Nuovi Framework, Pratiche HCAI e Sfide Aperte Workshop at AVI 2026

La ricerca artistica si sta trasformando in profondità. Strumenti di generazione visiva e sonora, dashboard multimodali, archivi interattivi, ambienti di realtà mista: non sono più aggiunte periferiche alla pratica creativa. Ridistribuiscono l’agency. Ridefiniscono i modi in cui artiste e artisti indagano, documentano e condividono conoscenza. E aprono domande urgenti su cosa significhi creare, sapere e insegnare attraverso l’arte.

Rethinking Artistic Research in the Age of AI è un workshop half-day a AVI 2026 — International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces — che riunisce ricercatrici e ricercatori HCI, designer, artiste e artisti, docenti e studiosi per mappare collettivamente il terreno in cui l’intelligenza artificiale incontra la ricerca artistica.

Al centro dell’interesse ci sono gli approcci di Human-Centred AI: interfacce e strumenti progettati per e con artiste, artisti e istituzioni AFAM, capaci di rendere l’agency visibile e negoziabile, di favorire un posizionamento critico ed etico verso l’IA, di sostenere ecosistemi di apprendimento nelle accademie e nelle università.

Sono benvenuti contributi che presentino:

  • Design case, prototipi e riflessioni critiche su strumenti per la ricerca artistica supportata dall’IA
  • Approcci responsabili e inclusivi alle interfacce intelligenti in contesti artistici
  • Piattaforme, repository e strumenti che valorizzino l’agency artistica e la self-actualization creativa

Sono particolarmente benvenute demo dal vivo di strumenti e piattaforme usati in accademie e università — inclusi prototipi in fase iniziale e interfacce speculative.

A chi si rivolge: Ricercatrici, ricercatori e pratici all’incrocio tra ricerca artistica, HCI e IA: artisti, designer, ricercatori interaction/UX, tecnologi, curatori, dottorande e sviluppatori di tool.
Di particolare interesse per istituzioni AFAM e università con programmi di dottorato in ricerca artistica.

Proceedings: I contributi peer-reviewed accettati saranno pubblicati in un volume open-access su CEUR-WS.org. I contributi potranno essere resi disponibili anche nel repository online di P+ARTS.

New Frameworks, HCAI Practices, and Challenges Workshop at AVI 2026

Artistic research is being reshaped — not gradually, but fundamentally. Generative image and sound tools, multimodal dashboards, interactive repositories, mixed reality environments: these are no longer peripheral additions to creative practice. They redistribute agency. They redefine how artists inquire, document, and share knowledge. They raise urgent questions about what it means to make, to know, and to teach through art.

Rethinking Artistic Research in the Age of AI is a half-day workshop at AVI 2026 — the International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces — bringing together HCI researchers, designers, artists, and art educators to collectively map the terrain where artificial intelligence meets artistic inquiry.

We are particularly interested in Human-Centred AI approaches: interfaces and tools designed for and with artists and art schools, that make agency visible and negotiable, foster ethical and critical stances toward AI, and sustain learning ecosystems across AFAM institutions and universities.

We invite contributions that present:

  • Design cases, prototypes, and critical reflections on tools and environments for AI-supported artistic research
  • Responsible and inclusive approaches to intelligent interfaces in artistic contexts
  • Platforms, repositories, and tools that foreground artistic agency and creative self-actualization

Topics include: AI-based Art and Creativity · Human-Centred Interaction Paradigms · Learning Ecosystems and CSCW · Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion · Cultural Heritage and Digital Humanities · Health, Well-being, and Self-Actualization

Format: Keynote · Short talks · Demo/poster session · Closing discussion Live demos of tools and platforms used in art academies and universities are especially welcome — including early-stage prototypes and speculative interfaces.

Target audience: Researchers and practitioners at the intersection of artistic research, HCI, and AI: artists, designers, interaction/UX researchers, technologists, curators, PhD candidates, and tool developers. Particularly relevant for AFAM institutions and universities running artistic research and doctoral programmes.

Proceedings: Accepted peer-reviewed contributions will be published in an open-access CEUR-WS.org proceedings volume. Contributions may also be made available through the P+ARTS online repository.
